Is it pie or cake? What about Cheesecake?
We have discovered an ever-lasting debate thus far - pie vs. cake. And what about cheesecake?
Marisa does not understand the difference between pie or cake per our American terms - she continues to tell us they are exactly the same. We think this is blasphemy.
She calls pie "fruit cake". Girl - fruit cake is entirely something else in this country (and it's notoriously NOT good).
Cake is spongy and variable with frosting (and sometimes a fruit/gel layer) - pie is clearly different with a crust and fruit (or other) filling.
I swear we debate about pie and cake ALMOST on a weekly basis. We probably will never come to an agreement on this topic.
But - what about cheesecake? We were at Cheesecake Factory, and Marisa tried to put us in a box, asking us if it was cake or pie. My answer: It's neither - it's a cheesecake.
Don't even Google this - it will lead you down a road to no final answers or agreement. She kind of has us in a box - but I stand by cheesecake being its own category of dessert. And pie and cake are COMPLETELY different desserts - there are no exceptions here.
I never knew getting an exchange student that our main debate would not be United States history, politics, way of life, eating too many sweets, being "over the top" - but cake vs. pie.
Seriously...we. will. never. agree. on. this.
PERIOD.
